I've lived here my whole life, please tell me where gas is in the 2.40's in laguna niguel? Maybe diesel.....I use tons of gas in my plumbing vans so I know where gas is cheapest.

Off topic, but .... $3.15 in California? That was a deal. A few days ago I paid over $5.00 per gallon at a California station - the Desert Oasis - along Route 66 out in the middle of nowhere!

Average for Orange County (where LN is located) average of $2.77, and a low of $2.42 per gal....:h

If you buy gas in "way out of the way" (middle of nowhere) locations like Bridgeport (CA), you *will* pay seriously "premium" prices for Regular....;)

Across the I-5 freeway (from Laguna Niguel) in CA -
I buy diesel at $2.49 a gallon, but don't buy gas very often, so....
thought I would check my local stations when I went out to do some errands about an hour after I posted the above.

The cheapie gas station down the road was $2.73 per gallon.
Shell about a block further down the road was $2.79 per gallon.

As far as CA bashing......
Outside temp is 77 degrees today.
My "winter" heating bills - are zilch to what folks pay in other parts of the country.......but I can surf in the morning and be on the slopes in the local mountains for the afternoon session...:C

But - *PLEASE* encourage your friends, acquaintances, neighbors, and kin-folk to stay where they are - and tell the others that are here in CA now why you don't like it.... and how much better it is in their former state/s - wherever that might be.

Southern CA is too crowded already, but "they" just keep on movin' here anyway!...:R

Yep ... I understand that, but that doesn't stop me from "leaning on them" every chance I get.

Sometimes starting with a sales person and then working one's way up into low level management it can be surprising what concessions result.

California and it's citizens were in the forefront of the environmental movement in the late 60's and early 70's. Remember the first Earth Day? The Ohio river spontaneously combusting? DDT? Litter. California has always been on the leading edge of many issues that takes the rest of the country sometimes years to catch up on.

No Smoking in restaurants? Ya California.

While I dont agree with every decision they make they at least take the protection of their citizens health seriously. Their approach is much more like that of some countries in Europe.

I am not one of those who will fall back on that old useless and completely worn out phrase "Love it or Leave it." But if their decisions make you unhappy...do you VOTE? Are you a resident of California? Do you even have a dog in this fight?

States Rights; the citizens of California have a right to govern their state pretty much as they see fit as long as it complies with the US Constitution.

I know what the rest of the U.S. is like - I've lived in some of it and we've traveled all over a lot it in our RV ... and so far I'll take CA to live in over most of the rest of it. ;)

What a shame the country and well meaning people have to endure another mass shooting in San Bernardino as once again only the bad guys had the guns. To bad some of those AMATEURS didn't have a pistol or two or three concealed in their pocket.

There's California and there's the Other California. We live in the latter and for year around living we wouldn't trade it for any other state's year around average.

Regarding what one can and can't buy in either California, the Internet and UPS or FedEx can often get one around that ... without shipping costs or state taxes, too.
