We have used the suction cup mount that came with our Garmin Nuvi 285 for years in 4 different vehicles. We've never had a problem with it sticking on the glass. Everyone once in a while, it will lose suction, but that might happen 3 or 4 times a year.
Clean the glass and the suction. Put a drop or two of water on the rubber and smear it around. Firmly press the mount on the window and the move the lever to lock it in place.
