I've bought el cheapo LEDs which had a cold light from eBay vendors like "eleseed", but for the use I was doing, those were good enough, and were very easy on the battery.
As an alternative, one can buy a couple Sylvania battery powered "light flutes" and use those. They only dent their AAA batteries.
