Gripping about LED lighting costs.....

I just need to complain. Reading all the topics about LED, I think LED lighting is worth looking into and possibly even worth tearing apart the few incandescent lights I have on my TH in order to help lessen battery usage while boondocking. Most living area lights in my trailer are florescent, so I always thought that florescent was far better than incandescent. Even at that, maybe switching over to some lights to LED is a good idea, but wow..........LED lighting is freaking expensive. I dont understand why either except that its still "new" technology to the consumer world, and manufactures understand that people will still pay outrageous prices for an LED light. :h After seeing whats available and it entails to install, I quickly found out from most, if not all, websites that I could easily spend mucho buckaroos converting to LED. Remember when florescent lights were expensive?
Thanks for listening.....:B

X2, that price is for 10.

  • Check the description in the ad - that's $17.00 for 10 of them.

The 10X means you are getting 10 of them for just over $17 delivered.
  • Doesn't seem to matter where I look. All 12 volt bulb replacement LED lights are expensive. Paying $10-$20 per bulb is unacceptable.

Thank you for the link too but, maybe I'm missing something in regards to you saying I can install 5 for less than $10, because it clearly has a price of almost $17 each on that website.
  • When you compare it to installing more battery capacity and larger chargers to achieve charge in 1-2 hours LEDs are almost free....

Not sure where you are pricing LEDs, but you can put five of these in for less than $10 and some of your time. Remove the guts of the florescent and stick 5 of them in where the two tubes were. I would do the two you use the most and see how you like it before doing all of them. You will not get the 1/10 amp savings over halogen... maybe 1/5 though.
