headlights

I have a 93 chevy motorhome on a p30 chassis. The prongs on the rear of these headlight are not like any other i have ever seen. They are standard halogen bulbs that come out in one whole piece. The prongs on these headlights are pins.I am used to the prongs to have some width to them with a plug that corresponds with the prongs.I dont know of the connectors that plug into these headlights are standard or someone has rigged this up but the connectors that is attached to the wiring is the same thing that you would use on a sterio speaker.I am pretty sure i could get a connector that would fit more solid but dont know what to look for. These keep coming off.Can someone give me some ideas on the matter?

  • I think I found your headlight. Link

One of the pictures has a good rear view that you can see the pins. I did some searching off the listed part numbers but wound up at a GM dealer website where it looks like you really need a VIN number to get the correct part.

You might try taking your chassis VIN to a Chevrolet dealer or a GM heavy truck dealer and see if they can order the part. I think based on my searches that it will be about $30 each side for a replacement harness.
  • If there is anyone out there with a p30 around the same year. Can you tell me how your system is wired and what type of headlights you have rather pin or prong.I would appreciate it greatly.

I have a 1993 HR coach on a Spartan chassis, not a Chevy. My headlights all have flat prongs, not pins. All of the cars that I owned since sealed beam headlights became standard also had flat prongs. Removable halogen bulbs are not the same as sealed beam but I don't recall what the plugs look like for sure. I think they were also flat prongs. So, I suspect your system was modified by somebody.
I think i made a mistake by saying sealed. The whole headlight comes out instead of just the bulb.Except for the headlight on the rear has pins instead of prongs. The wiring doesnt have connectors. Each endividual wire has what looks to be what you would use on sterio speakers. They keep coming off.I would like to get a connector that will stay on but dont know what kind to get.
  • I think I've seen that type of plug before. You might try your local Autozone or other auto parts store. They usually have a Help section with replacement parts like headlight bulb sockets.
