Heliotrope General RV-30S controller dip switch settings

Late 1990's controller and the company is now out of business. I'd like to check/confirm/adjust my set. Anyone have/know the .4 VDC increment settings?

FYI, the RV-30 (no S) had a .2 VDC increment.

TIA.

  • Findings:

I received the RV-30S manual from AMSolar via “msiminoff” (Mark Siminoff) and immediately knew things were different from my RV-30S. Even though the manual is labeled and states RV-30S many times throughout, its specifics relate more to the RV-30SE than my RV-30S.

    Dip switch 1, 2, 3 settings (12VDC):

    13.2v off off off
    13.4v on off off
    13.6v off on off
    13.8v on on off
    14.0v off off on
    14.2v on off on
    14.4v off on on
    14.6v on on on
Dip switch #4 turns mode on/off

    RV-30S (Mark’s and mine):

    Dip switch 1, 2, 3 settings (12VDC):

    13.8v off off off
    14.2v on off off
    14.6v off on off
    15v on on off
    15.4v off off on
    15.8v on off on
    16.2v off on on
    16.6v on on on
    Dip switch #4 is inert

    Summary:
So, our RV-30S’ have .4 VDC increments starting at 13.8 VDC, no mode jumper, #4 dip switch is N/A and a different face plate compared to the manual.

There may be more than 1 configuration of the RV-30S. The corporate memory may no longer exist. I don’t blame AMSolar for the possible mix up. They are just forwarding what they received upon acquiring Heliotrope General.

Another note – There seem to be typo’s in Heliotrope’s face plates. Seems someone did some very bad editing when changing from one model to another and left features of past models listed. A typo also shows up in the webpage of the RV-30S: “The RV-30S charges one battery only” should read “… one battery bank”

And, a BIG thank-you to Mark for helping me out with this mystery and for the pictures.
  • Mark - PM sent.

SG- E-mail sent to AMSolar yesterday, still outstanding. Seems this forum was faster, thanks guys!
  • You might also check with AMSolar, as they took over for Heliotrope. I talked to them awhile ago about an old Heliotrope controller I was looking for information on. They were very friendly. 541-726-1091
  • PM me your email address and I'll send you a PDF copy of the instruction manual...
