Help...1st time RV'r - plugin's not working

The lights and the pump are powered by 12 volt battery power (also called DC- Direct Current) not 110 AC (also called Alternate Current). Is there a microwave? Is the clock on the microwave working?

Just to be sure, turn the breakers off and then back on again. Sometimes they are tripped even when they don't look like it.

yes it's possible that all six outlets are on a single circuit. If it's a GCFI circuit, look for the *one* outlet that has a breaker reset button on the outlet - press that back in.

Have you checked inside the house instead of the trailer? Did the breaker in the house trip?

As stated above, lights, water pump, are run by your 12 volt battery and will continue working when your household electric is off.

1. Flip the main breaker in the camper for your AC power (house power).
2. Flip the breaker in your house (or garage) wherever you are plugged into. Chances are you blew the breaker in the house.

You need to remember, your camper is 30 amps. If you are plugged into your house (or garage), more than likely you are plugged into either a 15 or a 20 amp service (breaker or fuse). If you pull more than the 15 or 20 amps, the breaker (or fuse) in the house will blow.

You also need to remember, if you are plugged into the house, anything on that same circuit add up with the camper to max out that 15 or 20 amp circuit. So if you have a 100 watt light bulb on in the house on that same circuit that the camper is plugged into, that is also added to the total 15 or 20 amps for that circuit breaker. If you exceed the limit, the breaker pops!

It's VERY easy to do. So you always have to be aware how much electricity (amps) is being drawn on the circuit (breaker) in your house.

This is why many people run a separate dedicated 30 or 50 amp RV plug just for their camper.

Check out the house breaker. I bet you'll find it's popped!

Thank you for the quick replies. I tried to reset the GFI but the button will not stay in. I didn't think to check the microwave or the house breaker, but will try that when I get home. Thanks :)

Breakers do not always look tripped. Firmly switch them off and firmly back on to reset.

If the reset does not hold... you either have a bad GFCI or a fairly common ground fault.
Try unplugging the fridge and check the exterior outlet for moisture.

If the GFI will not reset there is either still some kind of fault with a device plugged in somewhere on the circuit, OR the GFI outlet itself may be defective if it wont let you reset. The GFI outlet in mine is a traditional household GFI like you would get from any home improvement store, nothing RV specific about it, not too hard to change out either (should go without saying, switch off main breaker or best yet unplug the RV while you change it).

Others are making this MUCH more complicated than it IS.

Likely that all of the outlets are protected with that ONE GFI fixture. Or at least all of them near to water of any kind.

So, when the GFI outlet will not stay reset:
The GFI outlet itself is defective.
There is a fault in some "appliance" plugged into one of the outlets.
There is a ground fault in the wiring.

Start by making sure that EVERYTHING is unplugged and try the reset again. Sometimes you must push the button PAST flush for it to catch.

Most GFI's will not reset if there is no power to them. Most likely it is the breaker in the house is tripped.

Must have voltage to reset GFI. Bet breaker in house tripped....
