HELP! Electric not working in Zinger and its getting dark...

We have a 2013 Zinger TT - at the last 2 sites we were at we plugged in the 30 amp electric but we are not drawing power from them we seem to be drawing power from our battery instead! YIKES! What is going on?? We check breakers and nothing is flipped. Help please! We are not very techy - so any help would be appreciated.Thank you

Glad you are back up but the 12VDC fuse are on the 12V side of things... Should not have bothered anything on the 120VAC side of your power distribution panel...

Fuses just don't blow for no reason too haha...

40 AMP fuse is most likely the reverse polarity fuse. In our Hybrid Travel Trailer, we had a blown reverse polarity 40 amp fuse once while out camping. With that fuse blown, the converter/charger would not charge the battery.

With that camper, any time we removed & replaced the battery, the 40 amp fuse would blow. We never reversed polarity, but it would blow every time. Eventually we removed the fuse before removing the battery. That saved us from buying 40 amp fuses.

"How long ya think that block of ice is gonna last in the ice-box?"
    "Dunno"

    "Hey fellas! I think I found a plug-in!"
    "Where?"
    "Way over there"
    Let's move closer"

    Rearrange for the 300' move

    "Now the Plug-in's will work"
"But we have to be careful with the lights or the truck won't start"

"Don't we got some light bulbs?"
    "Yeah! I gotta drop light!"
"Great! It has it's own plug in"

"How we gonna run it inside without letting the mosquitoes in through the door"
"Dunno. But we got light to cook dinner (Campbells Pork N Beans)"

"Pour some Oly in with the beans!"

"Hey Bill! Switch off the drop light will-ya?"

Perhaps when you plugged into the 120VAC your battery overloaded the on-board converter/charger unit with the high DC current initial charge demand... Those two high rated FUSEs probably labeled REVERSE POLARITY are on the 12VDC distribution side between the converter DC OUTPUT and battery terminals...

Lets hope all is ok... good idea to check your battery fluids first thing in the morning.

Sounds like the campground pedestal may be OFF LINE. It also has a 30A Breaker you may want to check... When you check breakers it is sometimes best to turn them off then turn them back on. Sometimes it is hard to see they have tripped.

If the 20A service is still working on the pedestal use an extension cord and a light run into the trailer to give you some light until daybreak...

Your trailer ceiling lights run off your battery so you may have to turn off a few things in the trailer to be able to last the night... The furnace blower will eat up battery real real quick...

Good campers always have good PLAn Bs... We work hard at our PLAN Bs just for occasions like this...

    Flashlights and candles perhaps...

  • Did you try resetting the main breaker? Don't just look at it, turn it off and back on.

Are you sure the power source you are plugging into is good?
