Thank you for all suggestions. We had a mobile rv guy come out and this is what has been discovered...he checked the ohms to the power cord and then checked the transfer switch. He disconnected the transfer switch, plugged into the GFI and low and behold we did not trip the GFI. So there is a short somewhere in the transfer switch. So back to the shop to repair/replace that. bottom line lesson learned is that it should not be tripping the GFI. Plain and simple. Thanks much to Jerry for troubleshooting with me!
