My wife just turned the air conditioner down a bit and it kicked on but then we heard a pop and all our AC stuff went off then came back on then went off again. Neither the interior nor exterior break...

If the wire overheated outside by the plug.... what about the burning smell inside the electric area?
Could be more to be found. Check your battery voltage too.
Bad neutral will cause high/low voltages inside the RV.
