Here's a hint for finding parts and accessories

Last spring I picked up a huge RV parts and accessory catalogue from an RV dealer. It is 8 1/2 by 11 and over 800 pages. It is published by Stag-Parkway. Parts and accessory manufacturers pay to place their wares in the catalogue. It is divided into sections such as electrical, fresh water, appliances, etc.

RV dealers pay to have their name placed on the cover and spine. Then they give these to customers. The business model here is that you call your dealer and have them order you the part from "their" catalogue. The listed prices are strictly MSRP plus sales tax and shipping. But all the items in the catalogue have the manufacture's name and part number listed.

So, here is how I most recently used this catalogue... My Atwood hot water heater door decided it no longer loved me and jumped ship somewhere between Grand Junction, CO and home. I looked in the Stag-Parkway catalogue and found the door for $44 and change. I typed Atwood and part number into the Internet found it on Amazon for $28 and free shipping.

As they say "results will vary." But this catalogue helps by giving you the MSRP as a baseline and the part numbers to be a savvy shopper.
  • The local place wants to sell them to you for I think $8 here, the only thing I get from them is propane. I tell them the back flow valve on my hotwater tanks is bad and they tell me they've never heard of it and cant find anything about it. Funny the part number is listed in Winnebago's catalog.
  • Thats Ok - Do you have the names and addresses of the supply places in Sacramento. Thanks.
  • I'm pretty sure you will not find this kind of catalog at a Camping World RV dealer. But I've gotten several similar ones of at least two different types in years past at non-CW dealers. I think I paid $5 for one, got another free with an over-$20 purchase, and got a few free. Come to think of it, it's about time to make a run down the mountain and pick up a new one from Tom Johnson's in Marion.

    Poetry is hard, mmmm, bacon!"

When you say you "picked up" did you buy the catalog and take home, or just look at it, at the dealer, to get your part number? I was looking around where to buy the catalog. Thanks.

RV dealers hand them out free. My 2013 came from Steve Caseys in Denver. I got last year's from a small dealer in Poncha Springs.

ssshhh! It's the same catalog - with different front/back covers. Each dealer gets its own cover.

yes amazon can and usually beats the prices of other places to get parts but you must know that if you want this part or that part they may come from different suppliers and you may have to pay shipping from one or both. if one is over $25 you pay nothing but if the other part is $5 you will pay shipping and sometimes the shipping is higher than the price of the part. but having said all that, I do agree you should check the prices with amazon before you buy. I had the need for a part and found it on line and then found out my dealer had it cheaper and no shipping.

They upped the free shipping on qualified orders to $35.00 but can have several items to get to that if they are qualified items
  • Over the last ten years we have picked up the catalogs at three different dealers. They were all free.

  • Good tip!
    I will remember this.

We are lucky here in the Sacramento area.
There are 2 RV supply businesses in town that have or can get things quickly.
For me they have beaten on-line quite a few times.
