Home electric hook up

I had a electrician friend hook up a 50 amp service in my garage for me , so when I have trailer here to load can have ac and ref running. If I hook up my surge guard 34730 with a 50a to 30a adapter (30 amp trailer), and the surge guard goes green , as in all good, does this confirm that electric is correct and won't damage electric equipment in trailer. Thank's in advance

    Correct that wiring to get proper voltage is hard to mess up. Main issue is cutting corners on the wire. Smaller wires saves many dollars.

    50A is pretty tough to screw up.........it's the 30A wiring that gets messed up
    30A 3 wire 240V vs 30a 3 wire 120V

    OPs surge guard will test power when plugged in.

    If you want to be sure, use a volt meter and look here under "outlet testing" to see what each leg should read. Better to be safe than sorry. I think it was a good idea to install the 50 amp. We always think this is the last trailer we are buying until we see something else that catches our eye.

    I could see having a 50 amp service installed if you ever anticipate a need in the future for use with a 50 amp RV. If not, you could have saved a few $$ by going with a 30 amp service.

    At present, your 50A service will not do anything more for you that a 30A service would have done.

    Yes, it is suppose to be wired exactly like a four wire range receptacle.

    With the 30 amp surge guard and 50 to 30 adapter, of course, you are only checking one hot leg of the 50 amp service. Most likely the other leg is correct, but I would be checking everything, including 240 vac hot to hot, of the whole outlet with a meter.

    If an electrician did the work, as the poster claims, there should be little need to worry. 50A outlets are pretty common in household wiring (it's the standard for an electric range, after all). There's more need for caution with 30A RV outlets, which many electricians rarely (or even never) encounter.

    Just because your surge guard sees 120/240 volts does not mean it can handle 50 or 30 amp.
    It should be wired with 6/3 with ground and connected to a 50 ampere double pole breaker. That is using type NM cable.
    So my answer is maybe!
