Yamaha was the original and still holds the patents on the multi-pole head design. Basically all the same. a DC multi pole generator head exciting a solid state inverter section to produce 60 hz power at various rpm's.
Except Yamaha developed the inverter generator and Honda did not.
They must not all be the same, because the Honda eu series generators do not use a DC generator. I'm surprised to hear that Yamaha does. And I'm no generator history expert, but I thought the first inverter generator was the Honda EX350 which goes back to the 1980s. Did Yamaha have something before then? I do know that Honda holds the patents for the self-synchronizing parallel operation.
