I do have a question and that is... What company manufactured the flooded cell batteries that were used?
Exide was the original manufacturer of Submarine Batterys back in the day when John Holland (arguably) built the first US submarine. Circa 1900.
The battery that I was a shipmate with on three nuclear submarines was comprised of Gould TLX-53A cells.
The battery cells on the two Diesel Submarines on which I served were also made by Exide or Gould.
Proper terminology suggests that each of those "boxes" is a "cell." 126 cells connected in series comprises a "battery." (A 12V PB acid auto battery has six cells.)
Nuke boats, one battery. Diesel boats two batteries.
