Honda EU2000i pulling too much fuel from extended tank

I rigged up a marine tank to extend the run time and the generator is sucking too much fuel since I pulled off the cranky primer bulb and it will actually overfill the on board tank. I got a new prim...

I don't have a primer bulb. I set both on the ground, open the vent on the ex tank and start the Honda. Sooner or later it sucks fuel and all is good. Never overflowed the Honda tank. If cap on tight, where would the fuel go. You must have a leak.
