Quieter, for sure. I rarely need the full 2000 watts -- it'll charge my batteries at the "eco" setting -- and camping is all about peace and quiet.
The other thing I would strongly suggest is that the carb jet be re-engineered for today's ethanol gasoline. Even with very careful preventive maintenance (running it under load every month, adding Sea Foam, etc), the carb still gets a little gummy, and the generator surges when idling. If the jet holes were fractionally larger, maybe that would help.
It starts very well, though.
