After staring at it for a while I disassembled the whole thing and found that the plastic threads going into the tank had no Teflon tape on them at all. it had been a slow leak for ever apparently. So I taped them up and no leak.
I bought this used and have been fixing little things ever since. thanks very much for your help. something tells me I'll be back.

We had to replace some of the plastic connectors and used shark bite connectors in their place - works great. Not sure if the same area as your leaks or not.
