The “house battery switch” must have failed or a momentary contact switch was installed by mistake.
When you say this, are you referring to the switch inside the rv that turns the lights and everything on, or the solenoid. I need to clarify because I am getting confused with all the terms I see that solenoids are also called relay switches.
Just to recap. Every time I hit the switch to turn my house batteries on. They work but only when the switch is held down. Also when hitting the switch you can hear the solenoid switch over but immediately switch back upon release of the switch. I have held the switch down and the first solenoid stopped working all together. It would still click but no power. The click is what helped us locate it and replace it. When we replaced it we were back to having the original issue. During all of this the generator never has been able to start assuming the batteries were the issue.
What I HAVE discovered that the generator gets power when plugged into shore power. Which tells me its not getting any power from the house batteries. Which confuses me even more. Shouldn't the positive line running to the generator have power when not plugged in to shore power and coming from the house batteries?
I have also discovered when trying to use the AUX starter for the engine it does not do anything other than make the noise like the solenoid. "click - click" and nothing happens. I have located that relay switch/solenoid (I assume) and it is separate from the other solenoids. I feel like this problem is related to a bad fuse inside the BCC but wonder if it is somehow related.
I am open to more suggestions on what to check.
Grounds are good
Checked lines, power converter and batteries with volt meter and seem to be in order.
Is there a schematic that I could look at that can help me trace where my wires go?
One last question, on the same solenoid as the house batteries two large lines run on each side along with some smaller lines. The one line comes from the house batteries and also connects to another area and on the opposite side there is a mystery line that runs to, I dont know where (I assume the power converter but there is no charge coming off of it) and it connects to the AUX starter. Any idea where the mystery line is going or coming from?
