Thought I posted in this thread.
When you install the two six volt batteries, in series, they magically (Actually there is no magic) become one 12 volt battery
Here is what you need to know
12 volt -{Battery}+ 12 volts
06 volt -{Bat}t{ery}+ 12 volts
As you can see, in both cases the most positive terminal is 12 volts.
Think of the pair as though they were a single 12 volt battery with just one minor difference... When you clean the terminals you do the two in the middle as well, and most all you six volt questions are answered.
How do I charge them
Must they be the same (Age, size, type, chemistery, etc)
Can I replace just one.
Are all answered, quickly and easily, by thinking of the two as one.
