how to change the fuel inlet hose on class a rv

We are new to rving, only a few years now. We kept noticing a fuel smell inside the rv whenever we filled the tank. I have discoverd the rubber fuel fill hose has a leak. I started to replace it, but can not get the inlet neck out to reach the clamps that connect the hose
to the metal inlet neck. Any suggestion?? I have removed the outside fuel door from the filler opening, still cannot get the filler neck to move far enough out or in to reach those clamps, HELP!!
Thanks in advance,
Rickey

  • It is a 1993 P30 chevrolet chasis with a 30 ft Thor Pinnacle motorhome. I have the hoses off of the gast tank, but can not get the
filler neck to come out thru the outside. I have removed the gas door unit from the outside of the rv. The filler neck is loose in it's box, but it will not come out so I can access the clamps at the
end of the metal filler neck.
  • And a second welcome to the forums! :)

Would help to know what chassis your rig is on.
It can take some muscle to get them off. I was able to use a small socket to get the clamp very loose so I could turn it. I then had to use a long bar to pry the hose off the tank. I have an intermediate support that had a clamp that the screw was on top. Once getting it loose, the whole hoses came out through he filler door which on mine is behind the license plate.
