How to remove Atwood Hydro Flame wall thermostat cover?

I have trouble figuring out how to remove the cover from Atwood Hydroflame furnace wall thermostat. There are no youtube videos and if I force it, it looks like it will break. The manual just says to remove it, no tips. Do you know how to remove the cover?

This kind of thermostat:

They usually snap off, but you gotta be careful not to break them. Try gently prying the edges with something thin, like a plastic tool or even a butter knife, starting at the bottom or sides. There might be little clips holding it, so take it slow and work your way around. If it’s really stuck, check for hidden screws or tabs. Just go easy, forcing it could crack the cover.

  • I imagine it would be fairly easy to add a remote switch. There is already 12v at the switch, you're only missing a ground.

I see, this thermostat got no ground...there are only two wires, R and W. Not sure where I would get the ground there without removing the wall. I got to see if there is any trick with this remote switch to get it to work without the ground

Interesting, I noticed your anticipator switch is set to zero just like mine. I guess I will keep this setting, seems like its factory setting.

  • I have one of those. It's definitely just a pull straight out to get it off. Just hook your fingers in the top by the on/off switch and pull. It's held on on the four side corners just above and below the air vents on the sides.

Thank you for replying. Mine was really stuck firm but I was able to gradually pry it open using a sharp strong knife earlier, screwdriver wouldnt even go in. May be the plastic had shrunk over the years never having been removed. Im trying to see if I can add remote controlled switch to it so that I can start the heater without getting out of bed after cold nights.
