How to replace washers in leaking shower faucet

My Phoenix shower faucet won't stop dripping. I removed the knob and it looks like a regular faucet at home, only cheap plastic. The thing the washer is afttached to looks set deep with rings around ...

If it were me, I would replace the cheap OEM faucet with a new one. They can be purchased on Amazon or rv store for less than $25 and likely better quality than your existing. That's what I did.
