Hybrid Car Battery in my 5ver

So I've been looking at adding solar to my 2010 Jayco and ran across a Craigslist add for used Hybrid car batteries. You suppose these would work as house batteries in my rig?

Weren't some of you Tinkerers talking a while back about just this thing? Used elec car batteries?

Or is it that such a system would require too much tinkering for the average RVer?

I was pretty psyched about having a huge lithium battery under the bed :).

    no.
  • From Wikipedia for Toyota Prius:
"The traction battery is a sealed 38-module nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery pack providing 273.6 volts, 6.5 A·h capacity and weighing 53.3 kg (118 lb)."

Not a viable solution for an RV.
  • Be very careful. Sorta like having a grizzly as a watchdog. The suckers can turn on you.
  • Are they those new kind of battery that need special charging profiles? If so, then not likely to be what you want.
