hydraulic slide problem

This should be easy for most of you. I have a TT with 2 slides, when I press the butten to put them in it works fine, but, when I try to put the slides out it just makes a click sound and nothing moves. I was thinking it might be the solenoid on the hydraulic unit.

Any thoughts ??

Thanks.
  • cleaned the connections and still doesn't want to work like it should. it will click or if I hold the switch down, it will work ( after about 10-15 seconds ).
does anyone know how to troubleshoot this solenoid ? I really dont want to replace it if I dont have to.
    thanks.
  • Thanks JD,
The battery is fully charged and the TT is plugged into 30amps. This problem started on our last trip a few months ago. when we first arrived, I went to put out the slides and nothing happend. I found the motor and my wife tried it one last time before I cleaned the battery connections and it worked. I forgot about it because it was working when we got home also. I just closed it up for the season and will address the problem in the spring but was wondering if anyone else has seen this problem and could point me in the right direction. I will be taking a hard look at the solenoid/ relay on the motor along with cleaning any power connections.

Is your Battery (probably the trailer's "House Battery") fully charged?

If you can find the Motor that powers your Slide Pump, if it only has two wires, the two relays must BOTH be good for the slides to work in both directions. We think of the "OUT" relay as going "on" to go Out, and yes it must, but the "IN" relay also has contacts that have to make up in its "off" position. Likewise, to go back "IN" that relay has to make up as "on", but the "OUT" relay must have its "back" (or "normally closed) contacts made up in the "off" position.
What's happening is the two relays work together to reverse power polarity on those two motor wires.
  • Ok, I'll try

My FW has a relay that determines the direction that the hyd. motor turns. Since your pump only turns one way, your problem is in the wiring to the large relay on the switch that operates the relay. The relays are common, and can be found on Amazon. They are also used for 12 volt winches with the 4X4 groups.

This is how my slides work, yours maybe different if the hyd pump does double duty for say leveling jacks
