In-line water system.

I have a 2008 Tioga class c with an in-line water filter under the sink. While camping out at an rv park, I hooked up to the park's water system. While I was gone, I had some water on the floor under the sink. One of the water lines going into the filter had developed a leak. The filter has a plastic water line inserted into each end of the filter, held by a small plastic clip. There are no fittings. I would like to avoid any future problems when hooked to a pressured water system. Has anyone ever fixed this with actual fittings at each end of the filter?

  • Just went on YouTube and found numerous videos on how to replace the in-line water filter, however, it appears that neither end of the filter is threaded. You simply insert the tubing until it clicks in place, then pull on it until it seats. You then snap in a small half circle clip. There is no gasket. None of the videos showed what to do when a leak develops where the tubing is inserted. In one episode, they showed cutting the tubing when discarding the old filter. I think I will try that and re-inserting the same tubing into the old filter, which is actually a new one, and see if that cures the leak.
