installing Bogart Trimetric Question

This is going into a Slide-in Truck camper. Two 27 series AGM batteries. 45 amp on board charger, solar will be between 200-280 watt (installed at a later date). I do have a Honda Generator as well.

I am going with Bogart 2030 RV, and later the Bogart Solar controller. But now I need to know should I go with the 100A shunt of 500A shunt?

500a sounds like a lot, and I would appropriate the extra digit on load display using the 100A shunt. Which one should I use?

I hadn't thought about this. I have a TriMetric with two wet cells and I just bought a 1000w Xantrex inverter. I'll need to see what size shunt I have. If I understand correctly, the inverter will be pulling its max amp through the shunt? Therefore it needs to be greater than this demand?
    Yes

Also make sure the Trimetric is configured for whichever shunt you are using.

  • Do you plan on an Inverter? ( I assume yes) then a 1000 W inverter could easily pull 100+ amps during peak usage and most recommend a 150 Amp fuse.

I have the 500 installed with the same meter but have a 2000 W inverter so there was no choice.

  • The lower voltage drop of the 500A would be my choice. Most of the time when I look at the voltage there is some rig load anyway so 0.1V accuracy is OK.
