It appears that the hose you are using is leaching some chemical(s) into your water supply when the hose is sitting in direct sunlight. Or it might be "flat" water. Regardless, if it were me, I would purchase another water hose to be safe. They are not expensive and hopefully would eliminate the off taste in the water during hot weather.

Update: On a recent trip to NC, the hose was shaded for the entire week we were there and temps never rose above 80. We had no problems with water quality. It is definitely exposure to sunlight and the resulting heat that is causing the problem.

I go through this with the on board water. I have well water at home that I fill the camper with and although it's good well water I'll get the "garden hose" taste in the camper. In the past I've used baking soda mixed with the water and let that sit in the lines a while then flush. That does the trick but the drawback is my well water won't disolve all the baking soda so I end up with some in my tank that clogs my drain when I drain the tank. I've tried store bought water treatments and none work as well as the baking soda but they also don't clog the drain line.

Try drinking tea out of a styrofoam cup... The taste is horrible!

I think you are right. I'm the "water taster" when we arrive at a campground. I get a tumbler from the spigot before we hook up to determine if the water can be used for coffee and ice trays.

I use a filter and still have the hose taste. Can't be an aeration problem because the taste only occurs when the hose has been directly in the sun. A hot day in the shade produces no effect.

Some people can be more sensitive to the taste from vinyl RV drinking water hoses. You could try a hose that is made from another material such as PVC like this Flex-tech hose. This particular hose is also made from NSF certified materials which is a good thing.
