Intermittent water leak issue

The bathroom cold water faucet leaks underneath whenever I turn on the water heater - in either gas or electric mode. It’s seems to be happening intermittently though. Any help with this would be appreciated.

  • My hot water pressure increases as the gas heats water. I have no idea why the cold side would pressurize.
  • Thanks Alfred. I will try relieving the pressure and get back.

Do you have an idea about why my leak would be on the cold side? Seems odd to me.
  • I’m inclined to think the leak is on the cold side of the faucet (the fixture itself) but I don’t understand why it happens only intermittently and not all the time....and why only when the water heater is operating.

Does anyone have ideas for this?
  • I know you need to fix the leak but as a temporary fix try replenishing the air cushion in your water heater. Over time the air cushion can be lost and it is needed to keep water pressure from exceeding limits when heated. To do this either drain and refill the water heater or disconnect the water hose, drain the water, and reconnect it. Then turn on a hot water tap inside the RV. This will inject air into the water heater.

If it is Pex piping they’ve had many failures on hot water side due to cracks at the connectors...Could be defective pipe or poor installation...This has happened to our 5yr old house and a few others in our neighborhood - 6” of water beneath our house and costly remediation...
  • I gave up trying to fix leaks. Now I just put a small container under them and empty as needed.
  • Make sure all the connector fittings are tight. You may need to renew the "O" rings in the faucet or buy new cartridges for it. Most of all, figure out where the leak is coming from first.
