All this back and forth from so called experts and NONE have any idea what size and type Magnum the OP is using. The OP needs to respond with WHAT model magnum and HOW he is going to wire the 120 circuits thru the Inverter. I WILL state that
1. It is NOT a good idea to mount ANY Inverter in that front compartment.
2. The length from the batteries is NOT that big a factor as long as the Inverter is located within 15 feet of the batteries.
3. HEAT???? I have a Trace 1512 in my Garage just for kicks powering 6 AGM batteries and the Inverter/Charger is NOT ON. I have it just for back up in case I lose 120 power to run the 2 garage door openers. It is 105 in Texas, I have a 3 car garage. The Inverter is NOT ON, just on standby, but just the heat from the 105 outside temps and in the garage and the cooling fan on the Inverter is running.
4. HEAT concern IS A FACTOR
5. I would install the Inverter in the first storage right behind the APU at the front of the 5th wheel. That would put the Battery cable length about 10 feet max and then you have to connect the 120 wire circuit. I will assume the OP is installing a LARGE (2000 to 2500 watt) Inverter and will be connecting it at the APU feeds at the front. NOT how I would do it, but it is the easiest way to do it.
6. Lets see if the OP will state HOW he is going to wire the 120 and what size and model he is getting. Doug
