You want to ensure that the inverter is mounted in such a way as to avoid much vibration from the genny. I've repaired lots of failed inverters; a common failure is caused by constant vibration that causes cracked connections on the circuit boards. Heat is a lessor issue, as most components in those inverters are rated for 105 degrees Celsius, or higher. Excessive external heat may reduce the longevity of the unit, but not by all that much.
