Harold, I don't know why you are being so obtuse here. Or maybe you're just ignoring what you don't want to hear. The genny won't be on when the inverter is on so it doesn't matter if the inverter is in that compartment or not. And that shield around the genny does what? Oh yeah it keeps the heat out of that compartment. Since heat is heat, electronics doesn't pick and choose what hot it dislikes. My original reply was that my inverter gets used in HOT weather. I live in the desert. I've had no issues. Would you like for me to take some temp readings of my genny in the heat? Or would you ignore that as well?
To the OP, I operate my inverter in VERY hot conditions. NEVER had so much as a glitch. And since a generator does not give off heat when it's turned off (unless Harold has some strange genny that runs from alien technology), putting your inverter in that compartment above the genny is a non-issue.
The reason is that you are giving bad advise.
Is your inverter located in the same compartment as your generator? There is a reason it is not.
All inverter manufacturers state that they are to be mounted with proper ventilation and that heat does affect their operation, reducing power output.
Maybe you should read the installation instructions for any onboard inverter installation. Every one I have installed has a requirement for ventilation and cautions about temperatures.I can gurantee that an inverter installed without ventilation will fail in short order. That is why they install vent fans. Take a temperaure reading of your genny compartment above the genny with the door closed and report back.
What I will do is post what the the instructions from the Magnum manual has to say about temperature and ventilation if you are not able to locate it on your own. Magnum inverters have two fans, one is an intake, the other is exhaust. Recirculating hot air in an inclosed compartment above a heat source is inviting failure.
Advising anyone to install an inverter in an unvented compartment directly above a source of high heat is bad advice.
I suppose you would be willing to send the OP a personal gurantee for replacement when the inverter failes.
