Inverter

I am looking at the Aims 3000 watt or the Aims 2000 watt inverters. They both draw 1 amp at zero load. Will the 3000w draw more amps then the 2000w if the load is let say 1200w? At this time i dont need 3000w but want to be prepared for future. so I am wondering if the 3000w will drain batteries more if i am not using more the 2000w?

  • The difference in draw will be negligible at 1200 watts.
Honestly the max I would go on 12 volts is the 2000 watts. Will run anything that plugs into a regular outlet. Worst case is some very minor power management vs the 3000.
  • There ought not be any difference in the amps draw for a given power rating. However, under heavy loads, the larger inverter may draw a few more amps while the inverter tries to support 120 volts.

I would not buy aims myself. Samlex and Go Power may be superior to the aims.
