Is naphtha really needed for removing Proflex?

Need to do a bit of recaulking and have not done it before. Internet says to soften it with naphtha (aka white gas) first and then wipe it off with mineral spirits. The owner of the local RV repair ...

That's what I thought at first and started out a Benjamin Moore store. The owner there is extremely knowledgeable about paints and related products but had no idea where to get it. :(
