Issues charging Smart Car electric from RV

Just purchased a 2014 Smart Car electric drive to go into the garage of my Thor Outlaw. We plugged in the car charger to the RV outlet while it was plugged into the shore power at a local RV park. The charger kept blinking red lights indicating it was not charging. We tried several of the rigs outlets but nothing worked. What am I missing here? Thank you in advance!
  • Hmm. I wonder if it is a ground thing. Is the plug you are plugging into on the inverter circuit. Is it on a GFCI circuit? I think th EVSE is kinda picky on things like floating grounds etc. Are you using the stock level one charger?

I have the same car, (2015). Try it straight off the pedestal. If it doesn't work let me know and I'll try mine off of one of the coach plugs. Right now mine is charging directly off the pedestal.
  • Could be not enough power available? Don't electric cars use a lot of power to recharge? Could also be a wiring issue - bad ground maybe. Can you try plugging it into the pedestal directly?
