You are fortunate. I live on 125 kWh per 60 days. I don't expect to find others doing the same. Incorrect therapy is harmful with a positive airway breathing apparatus. Without humidification my breathing becomes erratic and blood O2 loses 6 points. I wish it wasn't so.

What's up with the most common CPAP configurations in use, anyway?

Both the DW and myself use ours straight - no water injection and no heat. I removed the water reservoir off the ends of both our machines and replaced it with the optional blank cover in order to make the machine more compact for RV use. We even can now each use the ultra-lightweight no-hassle hose since wires in the tube are not required.

Our two CPAP machines now just sip battery power when drycamping in the RV.

I don't have a cpap, and I'll just steal the blanket from my wife if the heater dies. I'm good.

Camped in sub-freezing temperatures and using a CPAP with humidifier set to 5 (cold dry winter air... *)

Take a guess how many amp hours in a 5-hour period. And the 3:00AM bit is for jollies. A more rational workup is to have the power failure worst case which is more akin to reality.

Rationale: Winter travel boondock overnight on asphalt. Power pole princess rigs are especially susceptible as they have a single lightweight battery.

For whatever reason I either set my humidifier on 5 unless I am home or I wake up at 4:00 AM with an Oklahoma grade dust bowl raging in my mouth. The humidifier reservoir is 95% used in one night.

Are you talking about the two factory batteries our Class C had in it when we bought the RV new because the furnace quit around 3AM one night about 8 months after we had bought the RV? They had to be replaced Thank Goodness on warranty. ;)

That sounds like off-grid camping. No so much plugged in and the power went off at 3am.

Heating the water takes the chill off the galley



This is a fancy new one, but I spent many a morning next to a hot wood stove fingers wrapped around a hot mug of coffee. My aunt made coffee that could second as rust de-scaler. Melitta was available way back when and she got plenty ******-off when Chick told me "make enough for two".

So sitting in the galley where there is heat warming water is sort of nostalgic. In the tropics I light the stove and run like hell.

Just a comment with regard making coffee while on an inverter. If my batteries are not up to snuff (I use a single serve K-cup machine). First I pre-heat the water on the propane stove top. Pour the hot water into the top reseviour, the K-cup machine starts to heat the water and realizes it's hot enough (or close to it), and all you run is the pump.

If the propane RV furnace can't run intermittently for five hours from even the factory battery, something is wrong.

I should have been a bit more detailed, as such - "Neither do I when drycamping .... assuming the furnace and CPAP machine keep working."

BTW, we can RV-sleep OK without a CPAP machine ... they're optional. What we cannot RV-sleep without is heat ... our down sleeping bag backpacking days are long gone.
