Internal combustion engines suffer power loss at higher temperatures because because the air is less dense. In an "over engined" genset like an eu3000i or EF2400is it might not matter. The eu2000i's engine is sized pretty close to what's needed to meet its power specs. When the altitude or temp goes much above the spec'd conditions, the engine doesn't produce enough power for the spec'd power ratings.
