The reason heat affects engine output is known as density altitude. My density altitude when testing my generator at 106 degrees and 3500 MSL is actually 7300 MSL. A recent example of this was when even some commercial jets could not take off from Phoenix which is just over 1000 MSL but the day was at 120 degrees.
