Regarding higher altitudes use of a Honda 2000i when pushing it - as in trying to run RV air conditioners - aren't you supposed to install different jets at those higher altitudes to keep the fuel-air ratio optimized ... which in turn should help sustain power a bit better?
The above isn't talked about much. FWIW, my Onan starts and runs at higher altitudes as is ... but it does have a convenient twist knob with altitude points on the dial that I probably should be using. Why doesn't Honda add that capability to their inverter portables?
My opinion, that is an excellent argument for buying the higher priced inverter gens as I do believe the Honda's, Yamaha's have high altitude jets available for purchase. I have the 2000W Champions running in parallel and those do not have high altitude jets available which is a reason this MicroAir is also appealing for my situation. I have read some versions of the Champion inverter gens have high altitude jets available but don't quote me on that as I've not confirmed those exist for sale.
I live at 8000' and frequently go to places where I'm boodocked at 9,500'. Replaceable jets should have been something on my radar and if I were making that decision today, it would be different. Fortunately, running AC at 9,500' is not something that has to be done much at all, but it can happen.
I do understand I, and few others, are in a bit of a unique situation which is such a low percentage of overall inverter gen consumers.
