You either like them or you don't.
We've tried a couple of things like the JT strong arms and a cheap set of wheel chocks that tighten between the wheels. I imagine the X-Chocks work better. Tried different pressures on rear stabilizers and tricks with how far I extend different parts of the landing gear. We find the best results with a king pin stabilizer.
I spent some time looking at what others did and talking with people. Noticed the tongue jack on a TT acted as a extra point of ground contact the 5th wheel did not have, so I tried the tripod. We found it helped.
Personally, I chose one that would support my pin weight incase I had a landing gear failure or if I needed to retract/work on my landing gear. I also found having the tripod there kept the GBs from walking into the king pin and thumping their little heads. I keep a gallon zip lock bag over the greasy end and it does take up some storage space.
