I had this same problem with my controller on a 1996 GBM. I could not find a replacement. But did find a company that would rebuild them for about $100 plus shipping. What they replace is the relay's inside. He told me with good soldering skills I could replace it my self which I did for a cost of about $4.00. If you remove the controller and look at the two relays inside and see one that is burned/melted that would be the one to replace.
