Kwikee step help please

Hey!

We use our 99 bounder all year round.

Unfortunately, the old Kwikee steps have an exposed bearing that seizes when water and salt corrode the dissimilar metals.

Normally, I can get them apart, coat with a mixture of anti-seize and grease and they work for a couple of years.

This time, when I took them apart, I found the main shaft had failed. The aluminum cast metal has cracked leaving only the steel center.

So, I know the best answer is to replace either the entire motor / controller or the entire steps but I don't want to do this outside this winter (I was laying in the snow last night fixing the steps).

I found what I think is the correct part but non of the RV dealers will confirm this. Something about 1999 being a change over year.

The steps are series 32 and have a s/n 213147.

I also am attaching a picture of he motor / gearbox.

Can anyone tell me if this part (Kwikee Step 909534000 Linkage Assembly Lippert Components 379649) will fit?

It is a bit confusing since the picture of this part on ebay shows a "A" style arm but on Amazon the same part number shows a straight arm.

Thanks so much .....

Mike in VT

For possible future help, I think you have the steps covered by Kwikee (LCI) Manual #875. Link to 875. Some time in the early 2000's, they discontinued those steps and introduced those covered by Manual #888.
  • Got it!

Factory got back to me ... exactly as Jamboree89 said ... Kwikee Step 909534000 Linkage Assembly Lippert Components 379649.

    $70 with shipping.

In the future, I may replace the motor with the new style. If you use your RV in winter, the metal / aluminum interface seizes up.

I am a machinist but all my machines are in storage while we build a new shop. Maybe by next winter I will cut a new bushing out of stainless or brass. This would solve the problem.

    Thanks ..... Mike
  • i did my 95 Safari kwikee steps (2) years ago, broken teeth in the gear box

bought complete 'new' assembly and it bolted right in

i only had to do a wiring change at the motor between my harness and the new motor

    also had the curved arm
  • I just replaced my broken linkage this week on my 1998 Monaco. Kwikee Step 909534000 Linkage Assembly, Lippert Components Kwikee Step Linkage Kit A LC 379649 was what I ordered from ETrailer.com and it fit perfectly. I also have the curved linkage. It was $60.81.
  • Sorry, could not believe it did this! First time using the forum. I thought they would automatically fit.
