Some of those motors can be replaced with Ford power window motors. That gets the cost down into the $50 range. Of course everything else needs to be good or repairable/repaired. It's been discussed here, so a search should turn it up.
Gearcase can be salvaged with a kit from the HELP rack at the auto supply. If the motor is round, pretty easy to clean up and get running. The square-form ones seem quite a little trickier.
EDIT: Chris posted his gearbox repair link while I was typing. That HELP 74410 is the kit I was referring to. I first learned about this at an auto supply that pressed a lot of wheel bearings. Guys would get balls from junk bearings and use them as the "Kit."
