I had the same problem with my Lippert Slide pump in my 2004 Forest River Wildcat. I didn't know what kind of fluid it was leaking and refilled the reservoir with Hydraulic Jack Oil. It leaked much worse!
I studied this blog and decided to purge the fluid clean the sludge and metal on the magnet out of the tank and replaced the existing O-ring # 348(ID 4 3/8" CS 3/16" ID 4 3/4") with a #348 Buna-N O-Ring, 70A Durometer, Quad. These O- Rings have twice the seal surface and are resistant to oil and ATF. Dextron III or Mercon ATF is recommended but synthetic of the same is preferred. I have been operating the slide pump in 100 degree weather with no sign of ATF leakage. The pump takes Two quarts of fluid to refill. I carry a couple of extra quarts of ATF and extra #348 Quad rings just in case of a future failure. I also used washers with the pump bolts to distribute the load a bit better from the tank to the pump. I think it might not leak for a while.
