Lippert Ground Control 3.0

I am reserching installing a Lippert Ground Control 3.0 leveling system on my 2011 Jayco Pinnicle. Reserching has led me to belive I will need to install a 6 point vs 4 point system due to GVWR and length of trailer.
Here are my questions # 1 can any body who has this system installed give me an opinion/rating on it. # 2 I understand that only the 6 point system is only available in OEM install and not aftermarket application. Also from what I gather the 6 point is only to be installed by a Lippert authorized facility.
I would appreciate any and all feed back on this subject.
  • I installed a 4 point on our 2004 Mobile Suites with a GVW of 16,000
pounds and is very stable. When I was researching mine I was told the 4 point would be fine on our unit because of the sturdier frame on our unit. With that being said it would probably be more accurate if someone with your model unit could chime in.
  • I have SOB 5W with the 3.0 system and love it. The manuals not great so get good instructions on operation the was a learning curve moving from manual leveling. My prior was a Jayco Eagle with 4 point jacks and the 6 point is noticeably sturdier. I don't know about install but I would think any good RV shop should be able to install them.
  • Thank you for the information.
Were all these installed systems OEM or aftermarket? Are the brackets fot the rear and (if installed) middle legs welded or bolted on the frame? Your thoughts on the bolted bracket vs the welded brackets. My trailer is 39' 11" ( per tech. specs) and GVWR of 15,950 # So research has indicated that I will need to install a 6 point system due to spacing between the front legs and the rear wheel location.
I am so looking forward to having the trailer not rock when we are set up. This will make my bride of 46 years estatic and as well all know happy wife/happy life.
  • My rears were bolted on and this would be my preference should you hit something hard enough the damage would be less then if welded on.The fronts were a direct swap for me and I did the whole installation in a weekend. If your handy it is an easy project.
  • My 4 point works fine on my 40' 17000# 5er. I just had new tires installed. Picked each side up by the ground control to change them. Everything is bolted on mine.
