- Dusty_RExplorer3M has a product called Scotch Coat, it's been out for a long time. It comes in a can with brush in cap. After it's been opened it will leak out if it tips over in your tool box. It's like a real thick shellac. It seal thanks very well. Over many years it will dry out in it's can.
I've never used liquid tape, but in my book something taped an then coated with Scotch Coat is very hard to beat.
Dusty - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerI need something simpler to work with than hot asphalt tar.

Roofing tar wrapped in a rag works well and you don't have to heat it. - BB_TXNomadI have used it and seems it will last a long time. But I prefer to use shrink tubing when possible.
- FishermanExplorerI used some on the ends of the battery cables about 6-7 years ago and it's still holding up just fine.
- Ductape_DaveExplorerI've been using liquid electrical tape for about 10 years and never had a problem with it. Works great sealing out anything.
- tvman44ExplorerI used to use the black 3M stuff on towers where it was exposed to rain and sunlight 365 days a year and it lasted for years. In fact when I would cut open a splice that was several years old the connectors were still bright and shiny as the day installed. :)
- HTElectricalExplorerScotchkote is better for outdoor and harsh environments. Liquid Tape, looks better, doesn't work as well.
- ctpresExplorerI have been using liquid tape to coat steel screw heads exposed to occasional water/moisture with great success. Also using it to seal the smaller holes. Great stuff for the small toolbox.
