Location of "YOUR" LP hose connection, SURVEY CONCLUDED

This thread didn't go on as long as I had hoped it would , so the data is inconclusive. I used the term "extend-a-stay" as a generic term and Marshall Brass no longer makes it I used the name "Sturi--Stay" because that appears to be the standard industry replacement for the "Extend-a Stay(Flow)".

Now that the disclaimer is out of the way. Two of the replies were neither before or after the regulator and two and a half were after the regulator, and 6 and a half were before the regulator. The half is actually a forth choice of between the high side regulator and the low side regulator where the respondent had a two stage regulator.

As noted by Dutch_12078, the only difference between the extend-a-flow and the extend-a-stay is the tap for the hose to an external tank. the same terminology is applicable to the Sturgisafe kits. The illustrations for the Camco device show an extend-a-safe type fitting. It should also be noted that in order to use a quick disconnect, the fitting would have to come after the regulator as the only LPGas approved quick disconnects I could find were rated for 11" WC.

I made an assumption that because my oft maligned entry level RV had the extend-a-stay type fitting as standard equipment, that most RV's(Classes A and C) would have one too. I'm not excluding "B"s here and I would assume them to be similar to "A's" and "C"s, but I have never looked.

So I would hope those who say "MOST RV's have the tap off after the regulator" would consider saying for high pressure or for low pressure rather than generalizing that most are low pressure.

I had a mobile RV tech install my Stay-A-While Deluxe. The ball valve is his requirement. He says that without a shut-off the hose will slowly weep propane if left permanently connected. For me it makes it easy to disconnect the external tank for refilling.
(yes, the particular type of galvanize elbow used in this application is allowed by code.)


I securely tie-wrap the hose through a hole in the frame of the onboard tank when while traveling/not in use.

But to answer your question, I used an Extend A Flow with my old trailer and Weber Q, worked great. My tanks were up front under the plastic cover. The Extend A Flow takes high pressure gas right off your tanks before the regulator so you can leave the regulator on your bbq, etc.

The Extend-A-Stay kit that I bought included ports for both connections. The standard kit only included the hose for the external cylinder connection, while the deluxe kit included hoses for both the external cylinder and a BBQ or other device that uses disposable cylinders.

I hooked up my LP disconnects after a high capacity Rego Regulator. I run an external Camp Chef stove and an external water heater off my LP.

I tapped off my system after the regulator and ran the 1/2" steel pipe to the right front corner where I installed a female propane quick connect with shutoff. Removed the regulator from the Weber BBQ and attached about an 8 ft. hose with a male quick connect to that. Everything works fine.

Never mind if the OP is a MH only issue. If not, then :

Our trailer came with the RVQ set-up on the back right corner while the propane tanks and their regulator are on the front left corner. There is a long pipe from the tanks back and across to the RVQ connection.

We cannot use one of those BBQs that has its own regulator from the trailer's connection. With a "normal" BBQ, the option is to take out one of the trailer's propane tanks and attach it to the BBQ

I have seen long term campers get a huge propane tank set next to their rig, but not sure how they connect it. I assume it just takes the place of a smaller tank and uses the same regulator that it uses.

Some of those guys even have the propane delivery tanker truck come by and fill them up.

One of the "O's" may be an emergency cut off valve. controlled by your propane/explosive gas detector. O stands for "Optional" however.
