Looking for knobs for Magic Chef BT16RA-4

So my wife had the brilliant idea to take the knobs off our Magic Chef BT16RA-4 and put them in the dishwasher, which washed all the markings off of them.

I'm pretty sure these are no longer available.

Anyone know of some replacements?

Steve

  • You can paint the marks back on.

If I did, I would have to free-hand paint them and it would look like crap. It would be nice if there were some kind of decal I could print out as an unwrapped conic and apply, don't know how well it would stick to the matte finish though.

I hoped the markings were pained in molded-in recesses but they are not.

  • I will never again buy anything Magic Chef for that very reason. I needed a very simple part that was no longer available. I never could find it even knowing the part number and spending endless hours calling around and doing internet searching.

I had to go to a salvage yard to get a used one at the end.

    Actually says No longer available

Yes, it does...but it at least supplies the O.P. with a manufacturer's part number for his search.

Who knows who might still have them? :)

  • Since Whirlpool took over Maycor a few years back a lot of part numbers were purged good luck finding them.
  • I think that replacement control knobs for barbecues (any hardware store) will fit on the shaft, but if the oven thermostat knob is one that needs replacing they of course won't have graduated temp markers on them. So since it sounds like it's the missing markings that are the problem to begin with, I guess this is no help.
