300 lbs is actually a lot. I don't carry nearly that much food and camping stuff in the trailer.
Advantages of on-board water: enough pressure as long as it works.
Disadvantages: it is heavy on the road, it is loud to use, and sometimes it stops working - and then you have to find a leak and fix it.
Humans need 1 gallon of potable water a day, this isn't much and doesn't usually come from fresh water tank.
