Low water pressure and toilet won't shut off.

The long weekend is almost here and the CG has been filling up quickly and will be fully booked by tonight. Water pressure has been okay for the past couple of days but now it is down to about 12 psi as showing on 2 permanent pressure gauges we have inside (one before & one after regulator).

Water out of the faucets is just a dribble. For some reason, the toilet valve won't fully close and stop the flow of water into the bowl. In a few minutes it fills the bowl up to overflowing and will overflow unless we shut the supply off.

Is the toilet not shutting off a symptom of low pressure or do we now have a faulty toilet valve on our hands? It'd probably be a couple of hours round trip at least to a nearby RV parts vendor and the traffic out there is getting pretty bad in Bend, Or. We're out of here tomorrow but there won't be an RV shop along the way AFAIK.

We're on a long road trip through 8 states and yesterday both our TVs stopped working and it seems to be that the Sensarpro signal finder has packed it in. Last week the battery died and the converter had to be replaced. I just don't understand why this stuff happens on a road trip instead of one of the many weekend trips we do.

That's exactly what I thought but as I just posted, the pressure is back up at 45 psi and it's not leaking. Very odd. I even tried manually pulling up on the foot pedal and it kept leaking.
  • We went up to the office and told them about the low pressure. It wasn't long afterwards that the pressure was up to 45 psi and the toilet stopped leaking so it's okay for now. Will have to shut the water off overnight in case pressure drops again. Have never heard of this happening.

Will now have to replace the valve regardless since the pressure could go down somewhere else one day.

Makes me think of the youtube vid where a FW had a faulty toilet valve leak water all over the floor while the owners were out for the day. The FW was declared a total loss. That's the last thing I'd want to happen to us.

  • I had that once and it was the pressure. **** in the valve didn't get flushed out or the valve was weak, who knows. I turned on the pump so I had good pressure ant the bowl stopped filling.
  • Disconnect from shore water and use your own pump/water - if you still have low pressure or toilet issue then re-post.
  • Yup, I always fill up, then use my own and put the pump on when we need it, shut it off when we don't. Overnight, we just dump it down and it's rare the pump need to come on for THAT.

The valve should not allow anything past, even at low pressure, IMHO, but this is a new one for me.
  • The water pressure issue should be an easy fix. Just fill the onboard fresh tank and use your pump, refilling the fresh tank as needed.
