Made in Ontario, Canada Solar Panel Prices

Just got an email form the place in Markham, Ontario I bought my solar panels from. http://www.2solar.ca/
Looks like they are having a sale: Ontario made 250W poly panels for Can$199 (only if you buy 20 or more!!!). But they should also have good prices for 1-2 units if you call/email. I bought a couple of their 195W monos (Chinese made) for $175 ea IIRC.

These are higher voltage units needing an MPPT controller but they also have low voltage units (probably not made in Ontario though) at reasonable prices.

Not associated in any way, just appreciate the prices, friendly staff and not having to pay shipping.

Thanks, AlbertaNewbie! Calgary is a lot closer, about 800 km. shipping should be reasonable. I see a 100 watt kit with charge controller that looks about right for me. $300. Any advice on this? http://solarwholesaler.ca/shop/100-watt-12v-rv-boat-solar-kit-starting-at-296-89/

It's a kit that you will quickly outgrow and replace. Plus ifnyou are thinking $300 is all it is think again. You need to add grommet cc to battery cable, lugs, etc, probably at least $100 in material.

Research research research and then look at the controllers to start, and add panels afterward. For a decent base kit to build off of look at about $600, $300 for controller, $300 for panel, mounts wiring and accessories, based on our cdn costs.

Also check out wegosolar, very decent shipping rates vs anybody else.

  • So I'm out in northern Alberta. I have not seen a reasonable price on solar panels anywhere. Any ideas? We sometimes get as far south as Edmonton.

My 230W panel was made in Ontario by Hunwha. The dealer here wegosolar.ca is selling 250w ones now for about $300 last time I looked. You can pick them up yourself in Barrie IIRC. So your deal looks good.

Shipping one or two units around the country really jacks up the price. That probably explains much of the price differential. It's nice to pick them up locally.

But guess if you put a container full on a slow-boat from China, the shipping charges aren't that bad.

I have the 230w running with an Eco-Worthy 20a MPPT I got from the Eco-W site for $108. Works great. Gets 15.x amps with panel pointed at high sun. Not quite 16a.
